They Thought They Were Watching A Dust Storm...But It Was Something Else Entirely

They thought it was a dust storm at first, but it was way better.

At a nature reserve in the United Kingdom, filmmakers were recently privy to a scene that was both beautiful and scary. A flock of starlings, 70,000 strong, ebbed and flowed over the grassy knolls like a swarm of locusts. They were mesmerized by the hypnotic movement of the birds.By itself, a single starling is weak and exposed to predators. But flying in formation like this is a whole different story. What predator would want a piece of that?

The movement, known as murmuration, is just another example of nature's beauty...and it's a great one at that!
